Role play

- Round 1: 5 students as sellers, 5 students as buyers.

- Round 2: Groups switch roles.

1. Tokens

- Students receive fake Vietnamese Dong tokens.

- Objects (e.g., pencils, erasers) labeled with prices in Vietnamese.
2. Sentence structures

- “I want + number + object” (e.g., Leo muốn năm bút chì / I want five pencils).

- Teacher models and practices the structure with students before the activity.

3. Cultural Integration

- Money “earned” in the role play symbolically represents donations to children in disadvantaged areas of Vietnam.

- Adds emotional and symbolic depth to the activity.

Zip Zap Zop

1. Starting the game

One player starts the game by clapping their hands, saying "zip", and pointing to another player.

2. Passing the play

The player who receives the "zip" can pass it to anyone in the circle, either to their left or right, by saying "zap". The next player must say "zop" and point to another player.

3. Continuing the pattern

Players continue the pattern of "zip, zap, zop" until someone makes a mistake. A mistake can be saying the wrong word or not going or hesitating for too long.

Zip Zap Zop: Count in Vietnamese!

This adaptation encourages learning numbers in Vietnamese while keeping the original game's fun and energetic pace.

1. Starting the game

One player begins by clapping their hands, saying "một" (one), and pointing to another player in the circle.

2. Passing the play

  • Player who receives "một" passes the turn by saying "hai" (two) and pointing to another player, either to their left or right.

  • The next player continues the sequence by saying "ba" (three) and pointing to another player.

3. Continuing the pattern

  • Players continue counting in Vietnamese (một, hai, ba, bốn, năm, etc.) in the correct numerical order.

  • If a player makes a mistake (e.g., says the wrong number, skips a number, hesitates too long, or points to themselves), they are out for that round.
